A’s closing pitcher Mason Miller received a pair of votes as well. Gil’s teammate in New York Austin Wells, Wilyer Abreu of the Red Sox and Cade Smith of the Guardians also received votes for the award. Giving the American League East Division a strong rookie class this season.

Gill is the third Yankee player to earn the award with Aaron Judge being the latest winner in pinstripes back in 2017.

The next Rookie of the Year Award to be announced will be the BBWAA award. This winner will be announced on November 18th, 2024. Will Skenes and Gil win this award as well, or will another rookie take the crown? Tune into find out!
