Skenes Starts Against Cardinals

S. Samek

Paul Skenes takes his next turn in the rotation. After picking up a win against the Dodgers in his last start, can he keep up the strong start to his career? How will he fare facing against National League Central division rival St. Louis in his first career matchup against them.

He threw another quality start. He threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out eight and not walking any. He allowed five hits. He threw 103 pitches, a career high with 74 of them being for strikes. He lowered his era to 2.43 and remains undefeated. Though he did get a no-decision in the Pirates 2-1 win over the Cardinals.

The outing was enough to draw a round of applause even on the road. It’s just going to show that Skenes continues to put the division and the league on notice.
