Shinhan PWC Watercolor Review
Hi friends, today I am going to share a very special paint set I bought a few weeks ago. I have had my eye on this set for years and then the price dropped so I snagged it (and I am so glad I did!) Shinhan PWC (also called SWC if you are buying the version marked in Asia) is an extra fine watercolor made in Korea. They remind me of Holbein quite a bit and to some extent Mission Gold. They are also one of the most affordable professional watercolors out there. The tubes are 15ml each are range from approxamatly $5-$11 each on Blick open stock or about $3-$4 a tube in sets. Jackson’s Art out of the UK also carries Shinhan tubes and sets and they ship worldwide. I found sets on Amazon to be even cheaper per tube so it pays to shop around. I would highly recommend these paints if you are looking to replenish often used colors, without sacrificing quality, on a budget. You can watch the full review in the video below.
Today we are reviewing the Shinham PWC (these are the top-of-the-line watercolor paints from Shinhan, not to be confused with the professional line that is really a high-end student quality paint) You can find them here:

The palettes I used can be found at Shawns3DPrints
Pros (of the 32 set)
Price/Value
High pigment load
Very transparent
Glazes well
Easy to work with
Clean color that mixes well
I am grateful that the 32 set I reviewed does not contain black or white
Comes with a really informative brochure about the paint range
Cons: (of the 32 set)
Color selection: there are two similar PB15 blues and 2 similar pthalo-based greens.
Fugitive colors: 2 reds that contain PR83 (fugitive color) as well as Opera, also the PG8 sap green that is beautiful may be fugitive.
I’m not sure all of the pigment documentation is correct tho as a few colors do not look like the assigned pigments to my eye.
Bottom line: I like this paint. Even with the caveats, I think they are worth the money.
