SCIAC Predictions

The SCIAC preview just dropped. Well, it actually dropped this morning while I was in transit but I’m at the beach apartment now (yeah, we only go first class) and there is no WiFi (yeah, we actually only go third class). But, I’ve got a hotspot setup on the phone so my laptop is purring (which is seriously does…I think the fan may be going out) so let’s discuss.

The coaches are the only one’s to vote in this one and they have unanimously agreed that CMS is the favorite to win their seventh consecutive SCIAC title. I will say that I have to agree with 8 of the coaches here but to CMS Head Coach Kurt Vlasich I might have to say aren’t we a little cocky? No, I love the confidence but it’s interesting how some conferences let coaches vote for their own team and some do not.

CMS is followed by Pomona-Pitzer, La Verne and then Cal Lutheran but those three teams are separated by only 6 points so it should be another interesting year in the SCIAC. Whittier and Chapman were the next two teams and were also close to each other in points and probably do have the best chance to slip into the top 4. Redlands were voted last after coming off a disappointing season but I’ll be surprised if that happens. I just think there is a little magic in the works there (and a lot of returners).

Remember that in the SCIAC, only four teams get into the conference tournament. While I am on that topic, the NWC will also only have four teams in their new tournament while the ASC and SCAC invite six teams.

This is the last prediction article for our region so it must be game time! I guess I need to go double-check links now…or go to the beach. If the links are bad tomorrow, then you know what I did.
