SCAC Preseason Poll
The SCAC has released their preseason coaches poll, which you can find here.
This is the first conference preseason poll to be release and there are some differences with my predictions. No differences with the top 3, however, as we exactly match. Colorado College received 8 of the possible 10 first place votes with Trinity receiving the other 2. Based on total points, Colorado College finished 2nd on the two ballots that didn’t have them first. Trinity finished 2nd on at least 6 of the 8 ballots that didn’t have them first, which is a little strange to me that it wasn’t all of them. I can see that Southwestern did receive one 2nd place vote based on the totals but after that there is not much to gleam. Johnson & Wales finished at the bottom by a comfortable margin.
After the top 3 is where the differences come in. We had the next three schools the same but in different orders. I do see this group being pretty close so this isn’t surprising. The big difference is with the coaches placing St. Thomas 7th where I had them in 10th. I think it’s pretty optimistic to see the Celts that high with their turnover but each of the bottom 4 teams in our polls have issues and it was difficult for me to order them. Still, I went with Centenary and although I haven’t seen their final roster, I’m happy to stick with it.
SCAC Preseason Poll:
Colorado College (8) – 98 points
Trinity University (2) – 90 points
Southwestern University – 81 points
Austin College – 60 points
University of Dallas – 55 points
Texas Lutheran University – 48 points
St. Thomas (Tx) – 42 points
Centenary College – 37 points
Schreiner University – 25 points
JWU (Denver) – 14 points
We should have the ASC poll out tomorrow and the other two conferences next week.
