Saturday, Oct 5 Match Day!
Updates: MIT is ranked but they don’t have a signature win in my opinion. They were swept by Whitewater but the sets were close this weekend. They had two set points on Calvin just now but lost the next 3 points. They just came back to win the set and maybe that’s what they need. They certainly need a win against a top opponent. Still early but a really big day for MIT. They have NYU later today and after today they just have Babson and Tufts on the schedule that give them a chance to impress. Their expected SOS wasn’t that good, but this weekend will help that. Just need those wins.
Lot of words on MIT but they lose the next three with the last two sets not being that close. Still don’t know what to make of them.
Trinity takes the first set against TLU 25-20.
Trouble at Berry as they losing at home to Centre 2-0. Leading the third set, however.
Trinity has just swept TLU. They are done with the first half of conference and are undefeated. They have lost one set in conference (to Southwestern). I mean, let’s all say what we are thinking. They are overrated. 🙂
Have to say, a little disappointed in my Pirates today. CC gets the sweep and they had the Pirates in some deep holes. Credit to SU for climbing out but CC was the better team and I didn’t think that was the case going in.
Big win for Centre. NYU is playing at home but that win over Whitewater is still really nice.
Endicott handling Babson right now. 1-1 but Endicott about to close out the third.
Endicott takes down Babson in four sets. Endicott is now 13-4 with losses to CMS, Whittier, Cal Lutheran and Hope. They have wins over MIT and Babson. Now Babson has wins over Whittier and Cal Lutheran but it’s a struggle to rank them even with just two losses (CMS and Endicott).
Redlands is up on Oxy 2-0. They have yet to win a conference match. In fact, they have yet to win a match.
MIT plays NYU close but loses in 5-sets. What to do with MIT?
Whitman is giving Pacific all they can handle and are up 2-1.
Shocking result! Linfield takes down Whitworth 3-2 in a reverse sweep with set five going 16-14. Just amazing result at Whitworth. No Maddie Lee (she also missed yesterday’s match) so that’s a huge obstacle but this was still a match Whitworth will think they should have won.
Halfway through the NWC and there are six teams within 2 matches of the leader.

Random Thoughts: SCAC finishes up their pod at Colorado College today. The NWC and SCIAC play a normal conference day with the ASC having a few conference matches, as well.
TLU/Trinity should be a good one and a match that Trinity can’t look past.
Southwestern/CC use to be a huge national match but not so much this time around. Still, both teams are looking for the best seeding for the conference tournament so a must win for both.
Pomona-Pitzer playing at CMS is another chance for a SCIAC team to take a bit out of CMS. Beating a team like Trinity or CMS can really advance a team’s chances for an at-large.
Whittier/Cal Lu is a battle between two teams trying to earn a spot in their conference tournament.
