RV (2006)

Director: Barry Sonnenfeld
Starring: Robin Williams, Cheryl Hines, Kristin Chenoweth
Bob Munro and his dysfunctional family rent an RV for a road trip to the Colorado Rockies, where they must ultimately contend with a bizarre community of campers.
‘RV’ is a predictable and unfunny family road trip comedy that couldn’t even be saved by Robin Williams.
Williams stars as Bob Munro, a man whose kids doesn’t respect him anymore, and they spend very little time together. Bob planned a family holiday to Hawaii, but work related issues jeopardized the holiday. Instead, he rents an RV and takes the family on a road trip – to the dismay of his children.
As hard as Bob tries to make the holiday work, things just doesn’t go according to plan. There are misadventures galore and much of the film revolves around them trying to ditch the Gornicke family, whom they met along the way. The events in this film are not remotely possible or believable. I generally enjoy Robin Williams in a movie, but this was just not a very good script. For a comedy, I probably only laughed about twice…maybe.
‘RV’ is a cheesy and predictable attempt at a funny family outing, but I’ve certainly seen better. This short review says it all.
‘RV’ earned $87.5 million on a $50 million budget. The only award nominations are Razzie Awards. Ouch! For those unfamiliar with the Razzie Awards, The Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as the Razzie Awards) is a parody award show honoring the worst of cinematic “failures”.
Would I watch it again? No.
