Russo Races Past Field at PBA Scorpion Championship Finals

The stepladder finals field was set for the PBA World Series of bowling Scorpion Championships on Tuesday night. With a field made up entirely of two-handed bowlers, which one would get the title and bragging rights?
In the first match of the night Jesper Svensson defeated Jason Belmonte by a mark 223-213. Svensson didn’t fare too well in his next match though shooting the lowest score of the night and falling to Keven Williams 235-184.
Williams then faced Packy Hanrahan in the semifinal match. In a high scoring match Hanrahan bested Williams 247-225 to set up a spot in the title match.
Matt Russo awaited as the number one seed. Russo caught a big break in the sixth frame as Hanrahan left a 7-10 split. Then in the seventh frame Hanrahan left a seven pin and missed the spare. That gave Russo the opening he needed as he took home the title with a 228-192 victory.
Russo’s win gives him his second career title. He wouldn’t have to wait long to try and win his third as he made the stepladder finals for tonight’s shark championship. The road will be a bit harder for him though as he is the fifth seed for the event, making it so he has to climb the ladder by winning four matches to win the title.
The Shark championship is on TV tonight at 7pm.
