Rock Lobster, Kittian Village, St. Kitts
On night three of our trip to St. Kitts, we strolled (and Ella and Lily scooted) down from the Marriott Beach Club to Rock Lobster, a fine-dining restaurant by the St. Christopher’s Club condo/apartment complex. There is ample seating both inside and out. We were greeted warmly, but with the caution that marked St. Kitts: mandatory masks and gel for the hands before we were seated. Mutatis mutandi, we were seated and began liming. Cocktails, including a generous pour of Makers Mark for under $10, and perusal of the menu followed.
Like other St. Kitts restaurants, Rock Lobster has no kid’s menu. Ella decided on couscous, and Lily had a shrimp skewer. Ella’s couscous turned out to be an elegant tower or Napoleon of couscous topped with avocado and vegetables.

Nice kid’s plate, no? It was a hit, as was Lily’s shrimp skewer, which attracted considerable attention from the grownups as well. Nancy and Liza ordered coconut shrimp to start,

while I had a Caesar salad. You’ve seen lots of Caesar salad on my posts. It was very good though, perfectly dressed with a generous helping of anchovies. The coconut shrimp was a big hit, and Ella and Lily decided that they were shrimp nuggets, and therefore good. Nancy and Liza decided to split the whole lobster.

That’s one half with some very good local vegetables and mashed potatoes. And butter.
The lobster, of course, was a treat, and splitting it was a good idea. Both Nancy and Liza had plenty. I ordered the parmesan crusted grouper.

You can see the crust with the tomato and lots of well selected herbs. The fish itself was nice and fresh, and cooked just to doneness. It was delicious. You also can see that it came on a bed of creamed spinach, but you may not be able to tell how flavorful the creamed spinach was. I can’t recall having better. It’s so nice when a side dish really exceeds expectations. It’s like when a pitcher hits a home run.
We were all thoroughly satisfied at the end of the meal. But another surprise awaited! One of the really thrilling things about a party of five going to a nice restaurant in St. Kitts is being presented a bill denominated in East Caribbean dollars. Each EC dollar equal 37 cents US. At least I hope that it was EC dollars.
The dinner was lovely, as was the walk back. The weather in St. Kitts is lovely, especially with an evening breeze. We’ll go back to St. Kitts, I feel sure. And we’ll go back to Rock Lobster. Give Rock Losbster — and St. Kitts — a try.
