   Although there may be many. There are none like this one. Coming into a local Detroit club called Jazz Kats in the suburb of Detroit. The vocalist onstage, has a distinct feel to her tenor. It grabs you by its lull, and holds you in place while stroking your soul with its vibrato. The vocalist in question whose instrument  is leaving the audience transfixed is Detroit’s own LAKIA NICOLE. Born as Lakia Nicole Jemison , she has been vocalizing  since she was 4 years old . Singing in the chruch choir in Detroit, MI at Healing Springs Missionary Baptist Church,  every one loved her voice because she was a little girl with a lot of soul. She performed for many talent shows at school from elementary to high school,  and attendedFull Sail in Florida. Lakia Nicole  loves to sing and you can always catch her singing in front of crowds around Detroit and beyond. Her dream was always to become a big star and sing her song in front of millions of people because she feels that she will rock the mood and every one will love her style of music and singing technique. Her amazing vocal can be best described as Old soul meets New millennium. As her spiritual influence is evident, in the strength she displays while belting out a soulful ballad. To the smoothness in which she delivers a brand of eclectic neo soul. Reminiscent Missy Elliott, Chante Moore, Miss Jill Scott, Angie Stone, and Queen Erykah Badu,  Since she was a child Lakia knew she always wanted to be a performer. She has also grown into a blessed songwriter,  now writing and recording her own music, she is a force to be reckoned with. She is influenced by both female r & b artist as well as emcees such as Diana Ross, MC Lyte, Aretha Franklin, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Eve, and Alicia Keys. She combines fierce word play with calm soothing vocals for you soul. In has appeared on tracks and performed with hip hop artist, r&b and Gospel artist and poets from around the city and has released  her very own mixtape called “GoodDay” available online as well as streaming on soundcloud.com and more.
