Ricky Nelson’s 2012 Week 5 top 10

Oct 1, 2012
1 min read

I’ve been having trouble coming up with the last two or three teams in my top 10 all season. It is a logjam after the first seven or eight each week. This week I’m going with Elmhurst and Otterbein instead of Cortland and Puget Sound.

The AVCA Week 5 poll comes out tomorrow.

My rank, (my Week 4 rank, AVCA Week 4 rank), noteworthy results this week 1 (1, 1). Washington-St. Louis 16-1 W: Case. 2 (2, 2). Calvin 14-1 W: Trine. 3 (3, 3). Wittenberg 11-3 W: Wooster. L: D-II Indianapolis. 4 (4, 4). Hope 14-2 W: Trine. 5 (5, 6). Emory 19-3 W: Chicago. L: NAIA Lee. 6 (6, 5). Christopher Newport 16-2 W: Virginia Wesleyan. 7 (7, 7). St. Thomas 18-1 W: Saint Benedict, Northwestern, UW-Eau Claire. 8 (NR, 11). Elmhurst 14-4 W: Wartburg, Randolph-Macon. 9 (8, 8). Cal Lutheran 13-4 W: Occidental, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. L: Chapman. 10 (NR, 13). Otterbein 14-6 W: Alma. L: NAIA Mount Vernon Nazarene. Dropped out: No. 9 Cortland (20-2), No. 10 Puget Sound (11-3).

The Standout Stats, Standings/Big Matchups and Last Team Standing pages are updated. If you missed it, the LTS page no longer needs an update because we had a winner over the weekend.

My top five matches of the week: 10/2 Carthage vs. Millikin 10/3 UW-Whitewater vs. UW-Stevens Point 10/5 St. Thomas vs. Wartburg 10/6 Elmhurst vs. Chicago 10/6 Benedictine vs. Edgewood
