It took Bryan Reynolds till the top of the eighth inning to collect a hit, but a single was enough to extend his hitting streak to 24 games. He singled against former Pirate relief pitcher Jesse Chavez with two outs in the innging.

However, the offense was stagnant, scoring only one run and that was in the ninth inning. The starting pitching wasn’t much help either as the Pirates were behind the whole game.

Martin Perez was activated from the injured list and given the start. He pitched four innings allowed six runs om eight hits, walked two, struck out four and allowed a home run. Five of six runs scored in the fifth inning as the Atlanta Braves rode the big inning to the victory. Former Pirate Charlie Morton got the win after 6 1/3 scoreless innings pitched.

The Pirates turn to Paul Skenes to try and even up the series during today’s 4:10 pm start. What will Skenes have up his sleeve after another strong outing against the Tampa Bay Rays during his last start.
