Review: Paul Rubins CAroline Oil Paints
Hi friends! Today we will look at the Paul Rubens Caroline line of artist-quality oil paints. They are available in a set of 18 large 2oz 60ml tubes. I have been painting a bunch of 30-minute-or-less paintings in oils for an alla prima class I am working on and I was looking for a high-quality and affordable set of paints I could recommend and I think I have found it! Watch the video to learn more about them!
Pros:
Price (half to a quarter the price of comparable brands)
Color selection (A nice range of cool and warm primaries and secondary colors)
Pigment info on the tubes
Highly pigmented (A little goes a long way)
Heavy body, can hold structure
Handpainted color swatch on every tube!
Cons:
No open stock on Amazon but I did see some individual tubes on Aliexpress but the packaging is different so I am not sure if it is the same.
Bottom line: This paint is a good value. It performed as well as all the other professional brands I have used and loads better than the budget brands I have tried. the consistency is easy to work with. I added solvent or alkyd medium if I needed to thin it and it was perfect. It’s exactly what I would expect from professional paint. You can’t get this quality for under $4 a tube anywhere! If you want oil paints try them, You can’t do better at this price and you won’t be disappointed. I hope this was helpful. Happy crafting!
