Resident Evil 4: Afterlife (2010)

Director: Paul W.S. Anderson
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Wentworth Miller
While still out to destroy the evil Umbrella Corporation, Alice joins a group of survivors living in a prison surrounded by the infected who also want to relocate to the mysterious but supposedly unharmed safe haven known only as Arcadia.
Four films into the franchise and the series keeps getting better. Paul WS Anderson is back in the director’s chair. ‘Afterlife’ boasts stunning photography, incredible slow motion capture, stunning visuals, good acting, and a stunningly powerful score by Tomandandy. The opening sequence is impressive, although maybe too much killing of humans.
In ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’ Alice continues her journey to Alaska – responding to messages heard in ‘Resident Evil: Extinction’. However, once she arrives there, she soon realizes everything is not as promising as the messages had indicated, and soon finds herself surrounded by zombies. The film mainly revolves around Alice and a handful of survivors trapped inside a huge, towering building, with hordes of zombies dying to get in! (Ha-ha, notice the irony?).
We’re introduced to new characters. We have new heroes Luther (Boris Kodjoe) and Chris (Wentworth Miller), and two new antagonists Bennett (Kim Coates) and Wesker (Shawn Roberts). Boris Kodjoe is oh-so-sexy (!!) while Shawn Roberts makes a ruthless and determined villain.
The dead have mutated into hideous creatures and are no longer just plain old zombies. The Axeman attack scene is sensational, with some of the most impressive slow motion photography ever seen, complemented by Tomandandy’s score. This scene is INCREDIBLE! The visuals in these films keeps getting better and better. ‘Afterlife’ offers loads of action, adventure and gore.
‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’ is my favorite in the series since the original. This was also the highest grossing film in the series until it was overtaken by ‘Resident Evil 6: The Final Chapter’.
‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’ earned a staggering $300 million on a $60 million budget. It received 10 award nominations in various categories, winning 2.
Would I watch it again? For sure!
