Relearning Terminology Again: A Review of A-Level Notes
It started with this blog entry when I went to refresh my knowledge on biomechanics (see link). Having finished reading two football books relating to notational analysis, “Handbook of Soccer Match Analysis” and “Science and Soccer”, I am back to focusing on biomechanics. As stated previously, I would have to do some light revision. The best starting place was to reread my old A-Level Physical Education and Biology notes.
In college, I dedicated my whole second year to revision. I obtained syllabuses for all my subjects, created a timetable of topics I had to cover, made A3 notes of each topic, made simpler record notes of all topics and revised those notes including rote learning of all definitions. It meant my social life suffered but that was ok. I didn’t fit into any group in college. My vivid memories of this time include ticking off every time I completed an A3 note, hating lunch breaks because I wouldn’t know anybody and numerous sleepy afternoons in the library. Ultimately, it worked because I got into my first choice at University of Stirling.
I have reviewed those A3 notes and I have to say I am quite impressed the amount of intricate work I put into it. I never thought I would ever look at it again but alas, 13 years later I have. It has been useful because it refreshed my memory of terminology. However, more work is needed in relation to muscles identification and its movement type. Hopefully, rereading the biomechanics book plus the internet work should help me more comfortable in this area. Continue the hard work for .
