NOTES:

  • These were ranked with regards to 1) how much the character adds to the movie and elevates other characters, 2) how memorable they are, 3) how unique their characters are.

  • I left out a few movies that some consider Christmas movies, such as (1995), (1987), and (1992). I also didn’t include Hallmark Christmas movies, as I’ve not seen enough of them to know. Finally, I didn’t include TV specials. They’re too short to be considered a movie.

  • I did not include characters who were established outside of their Christmas movie. For instance, Ernest P. Worrell was a well-established character before was released. If, however, there’s an established character playing another role entirely, that counts. For example Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit.

  • And of course, I could only come up with this list based on movies I’d seen.

Congratulations . This is your week.

Best Actress:

Natalie Wood as Susan Walker in

Best Actor: Peter Billingsly as Ralphie Parker in

Best Quote: (addressing a mall Santa) “You sit on a throne of lies!“ – Will Ferrell as Buddy in

If you’re wondering who David Huddleston and haven’t googled him yet, he’s the Santa in (1985). The movie itself sucks, but he’s an amazing Santa.
