Q/A Friday: How Do We Provoke Our Children to Wrath?
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord“” (Eph 6:4)

If you want to NOT provoke your children to anger, then …
Do not be overprotective.
Do not be found guilty of favoritism.
Do not compare your children with one another.
Do not set unrealistic performance standards.
Do not pamper them by not making them do house chores or help with anything around the house.
Do not engage in excessive criticism.
Do not refuse to praise or commend them.
Do not make them feel useless.
Do not demand perfection.
Do not refuse to take their sin seriously.
Do not neglect them.
Do not u se a “cutting tongue” when dealing with them.
Do not physically abuse them.
Do not pretend to be the perfect parent.
Do not be inconsistent in your punishment and rewarding.
Do not have different standards for your children individually.
Do not break your promises.
Do not be hypocritical in your faith.
These principles are nuggets of wisdom I have collected over the years from wise parents I emulate and adore. May they encourage your own parenting and grandparenting.
