Product Review: Kirkland Signature Ladies’ Pull On Active Pants

Although I have written about the clothing in general (Clothing at Costco). I have not yet reviewed any specific Costco clothing items. So here we go!

I have always loved soft pants and wore sweatpants (even in public) for as long as I could get away with it (okay, probably *too* long–but at least I did not wear the full sweatsuit…I wore a different colored sweatshirt!). During middle and high school, windpants were deemed more athletic but they definitely lacked the comfort of sweats. Then in (at least my, admittedly very casual) college, it was perfectly fine to wear flannel pants, pajama pants, etc. anytime (I actually never wore them to class, fearing that if I was in  “lazy mode,” I would not feel as intelligent…Side story–despite wanting to be  comfortable when taking the standardized tests such as the SAT, I chose to wear “smart” clothes (e.g., a shirt with a prestigious college on it) hoping that it would make me more confident and perform better…did anyone else do this?) Then, over the last several years, stores have sold the velour sweatsuits. Although comfortable, I never chose to wear them much because the sweatshirt part was always too short…but, as always, I digress…)

So, yes, I find soft pants to be more comfortable than jeans, easier to wash and dry, and they often look relatively nice with a long sweater or jacket and do not have the problem of causing the bump where the zipper is. For years I have looked for yoga/athletic pants that are not tapered, are long enough, and are made of high enough quality material that they do not fade immediately in the wash. I often find them at Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, and Kohls for $16-20/pair (I am definitely not spending $60-100 for a pair of yoga pants!). Brands have included Bally’s, Spaulding, New Balance, and TekGear, and all have been fine.

I was pleased to see these pants at Costco for the first time a few weeks ago. Like most Kirkland products (Kirkland Products: 12 to buy), appeared to be high quality. The price ($16.99 with a $3.00 instant rebate) was also terrific. I saw black and charcoal gray in the store but Costco.com also mentions navy and they come in short, average, and tall. I mentioned in my post on clothing at Costco that the stores do not have dressing rooms but I took a guess at the size, figuring that I could always exchange or return if needed. As I mentioned in my earlier post about clothing at Costco, the products are not generally replaced when they sell out, so it is best to buy them when you see them! I bought two pairs in black and one in gray and then one more of each a few weeks later (although the rebate is no longer active, it is still a good price). I am pleased that they wash well without fading and are extremely comfortable. In addition, although I mentioned that one limitation of purchasing clothing at Costco is that, due to the limited selection, Costco-loving shoppers may all be wearing the same clothing, I have no problem with my black or gray athletic pants being “commonplace.”

Have you seen these pants at your Costco?
