Product Review: Kirkland Organic Greek Yogurt
Almost two years ago, as one of my first blog posts, I reviewed Kirkland brand plain Greek yogurt (Product Review: Kirkland Greek Yogurt) and, as of today, it remains the second most commonly viewed post (only my review of the lox (Product Review:Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon) has had more reads). Since first eating it several years ago, I would go through about most of the double-pack of 32-ounce tubs of yogurt each week and was starting to buy two of the double-packs at a time (yes, for one person!) Of course, since I enjoyed it so much and ate so much of it, it was time for it to follow the route of so many other of my beloved Costco items and get discontinued (It’s Gone? Discontinued Products). I thought I would have to either spend more money to buy my old favorite, Chobani (which, I still think makes Kirkland brand) or try the Wellesley Farms variety from BJs. (I did try the latter a few weeks ago and found it to be decent, but much runnier than the thick Costco version).
Fortunately, along with about 300 other new yogurt products being offered at Costco (looking in the yogurt section is like taking a world tour of yogurt…we have all sorts of “ethnic” yogurts–Greek, Indian, Icelandic, (boring) American, etc., they now carry organic Greek yogurt. Now sold in a single 48-ounce tub, this variety seems to have the same ingredients and the same health benefits (10-20 calories more per serving) as the original version–which I guess makes sense, as the only difference is that the ingredients used are certified organic.

Of course I tried the new version and, well, not much to tell…it tastes exactly the same (so, read my old post for a description!). In a nutshell: I enjoy it a lot and fully recommend it.
Have you tried the “new” variety? Do you notice any differences?
Have you tried the other new yogurts? Thoughts?
