Product Review: Good Foods Chunky Guacamole
I started eating avocadoes about 15 years ago. However, I had not tried guacamole until the past few years. Although I figured I’d probably like it, I associated it with chips, which I rarely eat. However, I then decided to give it a try. I can’t remember which brand was my introduction to the dip. I have only tried a few different brands and I know that it can vary in spice level, chunkiness, other additions in it (e.g., tomatoes).
Costco actually sells a few different guacamole options (brand and packaging), despite the overall limited number of items at Costco (Freedom of or from choice?)
I have bought the Good Foods brand, which is sold in a three-pack of 10 ounce containers. The packaging is ideal for me because the containers are not too big (I eat half a container at a time). They easily last a week once opened (although the coloring is less appealing once open for a few days) so can be finished without having to eat it all within a few days. They also have good expiration dates, enabling one to take breaks among containers.
I have very little to compare the guacamole to, given my limited experience, but I trust Costco to sell high quality foods. I enjoy this guacamole very much. I eat it on veggie burgers ((Slightly) different veggie burgers now offered) and vegetables. It is creamy, despite containing some chunks of tomatoes and pieces of onion. It also contains some large chunks of avocado, making it clear that it is made from high quality ingredients. I find the spice level to be just right for me, as it is strong but not overwhelming. It has few ingredients and is very natural. Note that it does have cilantro, which I know is a divisive herb, tasting delicious to some and like soap to others.
I don’t buy this guacamole a lot, especially now that the veggie burgers have been discontinued (It’s Gone? Discontinued Products). However, I can certainly get veggie burgers at other stores to have with it, because the combination is an easy summer dinner.
Have you tried this guacamole? If you’ve had other brands and/or made your own, how does it compare?
