Popular paint! Mission Gold Tripple Pan Watercolor (in a CUTE Palette!)

Hi friends. My name is Lindsay and I am a watercolor addict. Does anyone else need an intervention? I bought this set a couple of months ago and posted a tutorial using it and the paint sold out in all sizes of palettes so I waited until it came back in stock before posting the review. That was Monday and now only 2 of the 24 size palettes are available. This makes me think that I am not the only one with a cute watercolor palette addiction. I am going to post the review anyway because if I wait for it to come in stock again I will forget and at least people will be able to find this review in the future if they are curious about them. They are pretty great!

This is the link for the palette I reviewed in the video, it is sold out currently in the 48 and 12 size. The 24 pure pigment tube set is a better deal currently, and so is the 36 set with a palette if you want to try the line for less. I have reviewed Mission Gold Watercolors before and I love them. They are about as vibrant and transparent as they come. They really pack a punch.

This review is about the particular set in the video above.

Pros:

  • Price

  • Very vibrant

  • All colors are lightfast

  • Very transparent (that said the white is very transparent so you might not like that)

  • Beautiful palette Comes with 100% cotton swatch card with pigment and lightfast info on it

Cons:

  • There are a lot of mixed colors that could be made with other colors in the set. (lots of reused pigments)

  • The printing on the swatch card is small and may be hard to read the pigment info

The bottom line is, this is great paint in a cute palette. Other mission gold sets are a better value as far as the amount of paint you get is concerned. I think the pure pigment set I linked above is the best value right now and single pigments are better for mixing, especially since many of MGs colors in this 48 set are mixed pigments so they may yield unusual results when mixed. But if you like this innovative plastic palette it is totally worth it! Happy crafting!
