Pointers overwhelming WIAC favorites

UW-Stevens Point was a part of the 2011 WIAC regular season tri-championship. UW-Stevens Point returns seven starters. Ergo, UWSP is the prohibitive favorite. Not much to debate, and the ~~coaches~~ sports information directors said as much with their votes.

However, before last season the Pointers hadn’t won a WIAC title since 1981 and the program hasn’t had the bulls-eye in about two generations. Expectations are high at UW-Stevens Point, but so is the talent level.
