Players of the Week (9/11/24)
The following players have earned POW honors. Links to their articles are attached to the conference name when available. Previous winners will be retained at the bottom of the article. The AVCA Player of the Week is also included below.
In the Wrap-Up, I had made predictions this week for Players of the Week. Here’s how I did:
ASC – Didn’t think they would duplicate week 1 but they did. I got Mosley and thought Nix was deserving but figured the conference would go in a different direction. I think my reverse psychology sealed the deal for Nixie. Two wins for me, in my book.
C2C – I said UCSC would be shutout. They were. Sorry. Two wins for me here.
NW – I got Jimenez right. I thought defensive might be Makena Jackson but the conference went with Piper Hilgaertner. It’s sort of the same thing so two wins.
SCAC – I got Flora right. I really thought about Lily for defensive but figured SU would get offensive but SU wouldn’t sweep the awards. I was too slick. Disappointed I didn’t mention Nedd or TLU because in hindsight they should have received something and Nedd is very deserving. Three wins for me for admitting my mistakes.
SCIAC – I got offensive right with Bell (CMS). I said the defensive award would go to ULV or Whittier and ULV’s Coaston got it. Wow. Perfect predicting on my part. Two more wins!
Finally, the AVCA seems to be doing things differently with their Player of the Week Award this year. Yeah! The Co-Player of the Year gets the award this week. Really makes sense with Juniata also breaking the consecutive wins record. I may have still gone with someone in the East/West Challenge but can’t argue this.
