Director: Jorge Blanco

An alien civilization is invaded by Astronaut Chuck Baker, who believes that the planet was uninhabited. Wanted by the military, Baker must get back to his ship before it goes into orbit without him.

Humanity has always posed the question: are we alone? Are there aliens out there?

‘Planet 51’ explores this, but with the scenario reversed. What if WE arethe aliens? I loved the characters. Lem’s back story is relevant to what he is about to experience. The romance interest is nothing new, but the film does have a way of making it feel fresh and non-cliched. Rover is one of my favorite characters, and off course the sexy Chuck! The acid-peeing dog resembling an alien from the ‘Aliens’ franchise, is just adorable.

With loads of action and adventure, this is a film that can be enjoyed by young and mature (although definitely more for a younger audience). The humor is also really funny. Now add a great soundtrack and fantastic animation, and you have a film that might just go down as a classic. It certainly will for me.

‘Planet 51’ didn’t really make a dent at the box office, but it did earn $105 million on a $70 million budget. It also won awards for Best Animated Feature.

Would I watch it again? Yes.
