Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957)

Director: Edward D. Wood Jr.

Starring: Lyle Talbot, Gregory Walcott, Tom Keene, Mona McKinnon

Evil aliens attack Earth and set their terrible “Plan 9” into action. As the aliens resurrect the dead of the Earth, the lives of the living are in danger.

I can’t believe I actually watched this. ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’ is famous for being “one of the worst films ever made”. The only reason I decided to watch it, is because of Tim Burton’s ‘Ed Wood’, which revolves around director Edward D. Wood Jr., and his determination to make movies despite his lack of talent. Do yourself a favour and watch ‘Ed Wood’ BEFORE watching ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’.

Had I not seen ‘Ed Wood’ I definitely would have concurred with the fact ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’ is among the worst films ever made. BUT, because of ‘Ed Wood’ I appreciated this movie that much more, and even enjoyed it (!!). Intended to be a sci-fi horror, though, I viewed it as a comedy (mainly because of ‘Ed Wood’).

Everything about this film is bad – from the acting to the dialogue and terrible visual effects. ‘Ed Wood’ made it more tolerable. The film is about an alien invasion, with aliens turning the dead into zombies in an attempt to stop humans from creating a weapon that could destroy the universe.

Would I watch it again? No.
