The Pittsburgh Steelers will have a new throwback uniform to display this season. They just announced 1933 inspired throwback uniforms. They will wear them during the week eight matchup with the Green Bay Packers. The look is nod to when the team was known as the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The helmets are a matte gold with a silver face mask. The jerseys are the same gold, with black jersey stripes, white block numbers and has a Pittsburgh City crest on the left chest of the jersey. The pants to be worn with them are beige.

They aren’t the most stylish thing out there for sure. It seems like the comparisons to the bumblebee jerseys are coming. I think there a bit better than the bumblebees, but by the same time I don’t find them to be that great. The stripes just make it look worse. If it didn’t have the strips the gold color would be just fine. However, this jersey does look pretty accurate to what they were attempting to modernize if you look at the photo of the 1933 Pittsburgh Pirates jersey that was included in the article about the jerseys.

I would give it a solid b grade for authenticity. While they are also sticking to the standards the NFL has for throwback uniforms. As far as presentation goes, I think a C is pretty fair. I could see them being either better or worse when worn and it would probably be more accurate to grade them how they look on game day. Yet at reveal they just seem middle of the pack, like there ok to maybe even a bit ugly. Hopefully they look better on-screen during game days.

What grade would you give the uniform? Be sure to vote with your grade in the poll below.
