Pittsburgh Pirates Top Prospect List Sees Shakeup in Latest Update

The Pittsburgh Pirates 2024 top 30 prospects list has been updated. There was a good bit of movement in this update. That mostly comes from prospects acquired at the trade deadline as well as signees from the draft.

The new top prospect in the system is pitcher Bubba Chandler. He is also rated as the 41st best prospect in the MLB Pipeline top 100. He was recently promoted to Triple-A where he won Pitcher of the Week for the International League this week.

The second ranked prospect is Konnor Griffin. Griffin was selected in the first round of the 2024 draft and makes his debut on the list at the second spot. he is also rated as the 55th best prospect in the top 100.

Termarr Johnson moves down to third. He also made the top 100 as the 84th best prospect. Braxton Ashcraft and Thomas Harrington make up the rest of the top five. Ashcraft just slid into the top 100 list at number 96, while Harrington isn’t listed in the top 100. Though Harrington is having a strong season across three levels in 2024, which also included a pitcher of the month award.

Nick Yorke came over in a trade from Boston and is rated as the sixth best prospect in the organization. Billy Cook came over from a trade with Baltimore and is the number 24 rated prospect.

Wyatt Sanford, Levi Sterling, Josh Hartle and Matt Ager are the other 2024 draft picks to make their debut on the list.

Tony Blanco Jr. made his way onto the list after being unranked. He is now the 20th rated prospect on the list. This season he is looking good in the Florida complex League hitting .305 with four home runs in 30 games.

Jase Bowen was the prospect that feel the most in the rankings going from 21st to not rated. He has been struggling a little bit at double-a hitting .239 with five home runs.

Great to see the next batch of prospects enter the list. Should be fun to see how many of these top prospects can make it to the show.
