Pitt Panthers Football 11/23/24 Against Louisville Preview
S. Samek
Pitt has hit a slide during this part of the season. Now they face a ranked opponent on the road with a chance to end their losing streak. Can they, do it? Let’s preview the matchup.
Last week Pitt hosted Clemson falling 24-20. Nate Yarnell started in place of Eli Holstein. Yarnell threw for 350 yards on 34/54 passing with one touchdown and one interception. Desmond Reid ran for 68 yards on 14 carries, while also catching 10 passes for 108 yards.
Yarnell looks to be called on as well this week against Louisville as Holstein hasn’t been medically cleared to play. Though Holstein could still make a return. If this happens it would certainly give the Panthers a boost offensively.
Louisville enters the game 6-4 and 4-3 in the ACC, which is good for fourth place in the conference. They dropped their last game 38-35 at Stanford. However, they do still come into this game ranked as the 19th best team in the country.
Louisville is 3-2 at home this season but lost their last two home contests. Pitt is 2-1 on the road. Pitt won last year’s meeting 38-21. They have also won seven of the past nine games against the Cardinals. The series lead is also Pitt’s by an 11-9 margin.
I think it’s going to be a tough game for Pitt, but still winnable. I wouldn’t be surprised if they pull this one out though. I’m predicting a 30=27 win for Pitt.
