Pitt Panthers Football 10/12/24 Against Cal Preview
S. Samek
The Pitt Panthers have moved into the top 25 this week at number 22. Now they face California looking to stay undefeated.
The Panthers defeated North Carolina on the road last week 34-24. Eli Holstein threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. He also added 76 yards rushing on 10 carries. Demond Reid caught 11 passes for 155 yards and a touchdown. The win improved Pitts to 5-0 and 1-0 in the ACC.
California comes into the contest 3-2. After a three-game winning streak to start the year, they have lost back-to-back games. Last week they lost a heartbreaker to number eight-ranked Miami 39-38.
Pitt leads the all-time series 3-2. However, this is the first meeting between the two as ACC conference foes. The last time the two teams met Cal was victorious 30-15.
Pitt with a win would have their first 6-0 start since 1982. Can Cal put a stop to Pitt’s winning ways?
I don’t think so, it should be close, but I’m taking Pitt 24-17.
