Outside of a Rookie of the Year award for Paul Skenes the Pittsburgh Pirates could have another 2024 award winner. Jared Triolo was named as a finalist for a gold glove award. He is one of three finalists in the utility player position spot.

Triolo saw time at both second and third base. He only committed three errors this entire year. He had 149 total putouts and had six defensive runs saved in 2024.

He did have a bit of a down year with the bat. In 125 games played he hit .216 with nine home runs and 46 RBI. Not that that factors into the award for which he is nominated.

Brendan Donovan of the Cardinals and Kiké Hernández of the Dodgers are the other two finalists for utility player gold glove. Donovan won the 2022 gold glove for utility players and had an out above average of 6. Hernandez played nine, or more games at every defensive position except right field and catcher and even pitched in four games for the Dodgers. His versatility putting him in consideration for the award.

How will Triolo stack up against the competition? Find out when the award is announced on November 3rd 2024.
