Pick your movie of the week: Kurasawa (July 23-29, 2023)

Japan has many directors, though I only know one of them: Akira Kurosawa. I hear that Japanese movie fans get frustrated with westerners who seem to only know him, but considering how influential he has been on western movies, I guess it’s understandable. I doubt many of you have seen any of these, but if you read the plot descriptions, pick the one you think would more apt to deserve to be movie of the week. Vote with a comment:

Rashomon(1950)The rape of a bride and the murder of her samurai husband are recalled from the perspectives of a bandit, the bride, the samurai’s ghost and a woodcutter.

Seven Samurai(1954)Farmers from a village exploited by bandits hire a veteran samurai for protection, who gathers six other samurai to join him.

Yojimbo(1961)A crafty ronin comes to a town divided by two criminal gangs and decides to play them against each other to free the town.
