Performing Performance Analysis on the Performance Analyst

The new and last module block started today.  Two questions was posed to us in the lecture:

The answer for me personally is I don’t do this really.  It got me thinking because I do all of this analyses on players and teams to give them an objective view of how they are performing and it forms a basis from which to improve upon.  However, I don’t do this on myself as a performance analyst or as a volleyball coach.  It doesn’t really make sense.

I think the main problem is knowing how to evaluate yourself.  A few ideas pop up in my brain such as self-reflection, asking the players, asking the coach, questionnaires, player performance etc.  However, I don’t like having these haphazard ideas.  I like concrete criteria backed up by research and expert opinion.

Over the course of the module course (10 week block) and as I learn more about the process, I will endeavour to carry out and post up an evaluation of myself as an analyst.  I will also do something similar as a volleyball coach.
