Penn State opens their football season on the road against the West Virginia Mountaineers. Can the survive an early season road test against Big 12 opponent?

Penn State enters this game ranked as the eight best team in the country. West Virginia is unranked.

West Virginia went 9-4 last season including 6-3 in the Big 12. They come into the game winning their last three games of 2023, which included a win over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

Penn State finished 10-3 with a 7-2 Big Ten record in 2023. They lost to Mississippi in the Chick -Fill-A Peach Bowl to end the season.

The last meeting between the two teams was September 2nd, 2023, where Penn State easily earned a home win 38-15.

West Virginia is ranked seventh in the Big 12 Media Preseason poll. Penn State was picked third in the Big Ten edition behind Oregon and Ohio State.
