Penn State faces FIU this weekend. Let’s take a look at what to expect in this game preview.
Penn State defeated Nevada 46-11 last week to go to 1-0 this season. Drew Allar went 22/26 passing for 217 yards and a touchdown. Ethan Grunkemeyer also saw time and was 7/9 for 86 yards passing and ran for a touchdown. Kaytron Allen rushed for 43 yards on eight carries and a touchdown, while Nicholas Singleton added a pair of rushing touchdowns. The offense totaled 438 yards in the win, which is good.
The defense was pretty good as well, only allowing 11 points, not having a 100-yards rusher, or receiver, three sacks, an interception and two forced fumbles.
Ryan Barker went 4/4 on field goals and an additional 3/3 on extra points, giving him a 15-point day. Pretty wild when the kicker outscores an entire team by themselves. However that is a good day for the kicking unit of Penn State.
FIU won their opening game 42- 9 over Bethune-Cookman. Keyone Jenkins completed 18 of 30 passes for 187 yards. He also rushed for two touchdowns. Kejon Owens rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Robert Czeremcha went 6/6 on extra points all as part of a good offensive effort from the Panthers. The effort totaled 456 yards for a strong showing from the FIU offense.
The defense only allowing three field goals was good. However, it did allow a 100-yard receiver as Javon Ross caught six passes for 109 yards. While no individual rushed for over 100 yards, FIU did give up 105 total rushing yards. Combine that with the 241 yards they gave up passing and they gave up nearly 350 yards of total offense. While it was good to keep them from scoring points that seems like a lot of yards given up by FIU.
This is the second time the two teams have met, but first sense 2007. Penn State won that game 59-0. Penn State also has an undefeated record against current teams in Conference USA at 4-0. I don’t think that mark will be blemished this week. A home game for the number two ranked team in the country should be a cakewalk. I’m predicting a 30 point or better win for the Nittany Lions.
Kickoff is noon on Saturday September 6th, 2025.
