Penn State Football 8/30/25 Against Nevada Preview

Penn State is set to kick off the 2025 football season with a matchup against Nevada. Let’s preview the action.

Nevada went 3-10 last season and 0-7 in conference play. They lost their final six games of the 2024 season. Will they break the losing streak in major upset fashion on the road?

It would be a tall order as they are unranked in the polls and ESPN ranked them in the 19th tier of teams out of 20.

This is the first time the two teams have met. However, Penn State is undefeated against Moutain West teams at 6-0, including a win in last year’s Fiesta Bowl over Boise State.

Penn State is also strong in the opening contest of the year. They have won 20 of 23 opening games including eight of the last nine. They also dominate home openers at 121-13-1.

This probably won’t be much of a challenge for Penn State. Look for them to start the season off with a victory. I’m thinking probably a 20–30-point margin of victory for Penn State.
