Patinapaalai is a Tamil poetic work of Ten Idylls (Pathupattu) anthology belonging to sangam period corresponding between 100 BCE and 100 CE. Patinapaalai is part of the Ten Idylls (Pattupattu) collection, which is the oldest available collection of long poems in Tamil literature. Patinapaalai contains 301 lines of poetry. It was written by the poet Uruthiragannanar in praise of the Chola king Karikala.

The entire story of Patinapaalai forms a mere six lines of poetry. The rest of the poem is devoted to the description of Puhar (Kaveripattinam) and of Chola king “Karikala’s” might and valour.
