Pathitrup Paththu
Pathitrup Paththu, a classical Tamil poetic work, in the Eight Anthologies (Ettuthokai), a Tamil Sangam literature. It is one of the latter day Sangam works, probably belonging to 200 CE. The name Pathitrup Paththu refers to the book which contains ten sets of ten poems. The first and the last ten poems have been lost beyond recovery. The poems extol the richness of the Cheral dynasty, the historic kings of Kerala.
Each of the verses of the extant eight tens of Patirruppattu has at its end a composition known as Patikam. These patikams were added to these tens, approximately one thousand years after the orginal composition. This can visualised by the commentators like Naccinarkkiniyar and Atiyaarkku Nallar (they belongs to 1100CE) quote from these patikams their commentaries relating to other classical Tamil literary works. Later in 1904, U. V. Swaminatha Iyer reprinted Pathitrup Paththu and present from the palm leaf form to paper book format.
The list of poets contributed to the Pathitrup Paththu are:
Arisil Kilar, Kakkai Padiniyar Nachellaiyar, Kapilar, Kappiyatru Kappiyanar, Kumattoor Kannanar, Palai Gouthamanar, Paranar, Perunkundrur Kilar.
