Oshkosh inches to AVCA No. 9 (and poll trivia)

Oshkosh moved from No. 10 to No. 9 in the Week 3 AVCA poll. It’s Oshkosh’s 55th time in the AVCA Top 10, which ranks 11th all-time in Division III. With this week’s poll, Oshkosh moves past Ohio Northern (54 appearances) on the all-time Top-10 appearance list. Oshkosh was also in the AVCA Top 10 for the first nine (of 12) 2007 polls. Washington University and Juniata College lead the all-time AVCA Top-10 appearances list with 166 (and counting) apiece.

Only 50 schools in AVCA poll history have cracked the Top 10. Seven of the nine current Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams have made the AVCA Top 10. From the WIAC, only UW-Stevens Point and UW-Superior have yet to make the AVCA Top 10. In fact, Stevens Point and Superior have never been ranked.

Oshkosh has steadily climbed this year’s rankings after being 15th in the preseason. Today the Titans (14-0) travel to No. 11 Whitewater (9-4) with the winner presumably in the driver’s seat for the WIAC regular-season crown.
