OPEN CALL: Zine Vol. 2

Jun 16, 2021
1 min read

We have created our zines as both tools for political education and power building. In our first issue, we addressed what abolition means specifically for USC. We are now seeking contributions to the second issue of our zine, “USC’s Carceral History”.

We are looking for short to medium length (250-500 words) written pieces, as well as artwork that engages USC’s historical and present relationship to the Prison Industrial Complex. This includes but is not limited to redlining, gentrification, DPS, and LAPD.

While we want to highlight the structural forms of oppression that exist, we also want to imagine abolitionist possibilities beyond them. We hope that the artwork in the second issue of this zine will demonstrate the inherently creative aspects of abolition.

Please send a short proposal (3-4 sentences) to usc.abolition@protonmail by July 1. An editorial meeting will be held in early July to finalize contributions and word counts.
