The chase for history is over. Shohei Ohtani has reached the 50/50 mark this season.

He reached the mark during Thursday’s game a 20-4 crushing of the Miami Marlins. The win also clinched the Dodgers a spot in the playoffs for the 12th year in a row. However, they haven’t quite clinched the National League West division title yet. They are in good shape to do so though with a four-game lead with nine games left to play.

Ohtani had an all-time performance in the win clubbing three home runs and driving in 10 runs. He did this while also stealing two bases and finishing 6-6 at the plate.

He becomes the first player ever to record a 50/50 in the MLB. He crushed the record for stolen bases by a player with 50 home runs, which was previously set by Willie Mays and Alex Rodriguez with 24.

Could this historic season end with an MVP award for Ohtani? How many homers will he finish the season with? Could 60 be within reach?

With 51 after Thursday’s game and nine games left on the schedule it’s possible. He just has to average a home run per game. I can’t wait to see where the historic season end up.
