Nurse With Wound is the surrealistic musical vehicle for the outsider artist and British eccentric Steven Stapleton. Working as a sign-writer in London in the late 1970’s, he was called to paint the window at BMS studios in London. Having become friendly with the studio engineer, Nicky Rogers, he claimed to already have a band and was offered free studio time over the weekend, when the studio was officially closed. Gathering together two friends who were also obsessive obscure music collectors, Heman Pathak and John Fothergill, Nurse With Wound were born, and unleashed themselves upon an unsuspecting studio. None of them could play an instrument, instead they chose to throw nuts and bolts on a guitar, make random noises, and create whatever effects they could. Nicky Rogers, in despair played some “commercial guitar”, to try and a touch of music, and the proceeding racket became their first album Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table of a Sewing Machine and an Umbrella, and the record label United Dairies was created to distribute it. – Rate Your Music
