Now Thru Summer: Come Catch Me at Coney!
The recent world takeover by billionaires has inspired nothing so much in me as a desire to rub elbows at the People’s Playground, Birthplace of the Nickel Hot Dog. So look for me at Coney Island USA throughout the remaining spring and summer! More details about these events to follow but I wanted to get the word out ASAP. Check back here and the Coney Island USA website for more details in upcoming days and weeks.
This coming weekend, a rare team-up of two annual sideshow convocations the Sideshow Hootenanny and Coney’s own Congress of Curious People. I won’t be presenting in the Sideshow Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies as I often have done in the past, but I’m planning on attending the festivities. See the link about for more info. Then the following week, don’t miss The Coney Island Film Festival.
All hail Lady Aye (Ilyse Carter) for hatching this plan, and organizing it! I’ll be selling and signing copies of all of my books as well as moderating a panel on the sideshow bally at 4pm. My wife, artist Carolyn Raship will be offering her own eye-candy merch. Marx Brothers Weekend (May 23-25)
Jonny Porkpie is reviving his Marx Brothers themed burlesque show A Day on the Boardwalk, A Night at the Strip Show, and we’ll also have screenings of The Cocoanuts (in honor of the centennial of its Broadway premier), and a panel and symposium I am organizing called The Marx Brothers vs. The Man, which will be an exploration of the Marx Brothers as anti-establishment figures. Presenters include myself, Noah Diamond of I’ll Say She Is and the Marx Brothers Council Podcast, the great Jennifer Miller of Circus Amok, author/actress/astrologer Kathy Biehl of I’ll Say She Is, and historian Steve Jaffee. More to come! We’ll have Marx Brothers related merch at this one, too, including my most recent book The Marx Brothers Miscellany! Get all your tickets and info here.
Not sure if I’ll be a judge or a marcher this year, but I’m fixin’ to be there, weather permitting! Also don’t forget the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4.

Surf Reality’s Robert Prichard and me are teaming up again to bring you a stellar Coney Island vaudeville show! The line up TBA but please save the date! Among other things I’ll be celebrating the 20th anniversary of my book No Applause!
