Starring: Jack Quaid, Amber Midthunder, Ray Nicholson

When the girl of his dreams is kidnapped, a man incapable of feeling physical pain turns his rare condition into an unexpected advantage in the fight to rescue her.

‘Novacaine’ is an action comedy with excellently choreographed fighting sequences in the vein of ‘Nobody’. The action and humour are well balance without the humour getting in the way of the action, and its actually really funny.

Jack Quaid is perfectly cast as Nathan Caine (clever name), a man who can’t feel pain. His inability to feel pain is well explored and explained before it plays a pivotal role in the film. Nathan is assistant manager at a bank. He has a crush on Sherry, who only started working at the bank four months ago. I enjoyed the fact we really got to know the characters before all hell broke loose, and allowed us to root for them even more.

During a bank robbery, Sherry is taken hostage, and now the game is on for Nathan to pursue the robbers and save Sherry. Action and fight scenes are incredibly well made, and Jack Quaid shines as the protagonist. There’s more fatalities than expected, but this is still a super entertaining, high-octane comedy.

Around the halfway mark there’s a big twist a I never saw coming, which entirely changes everything. Fasten your seatbelts; you’re in for a hell of a ride! I absolutely loved every minute of this movie!

Would I watch it again? Yes.
