Night 2 of Advent – How Can We Know the Christmas Story is Real?

Night 2 – Having talked last night about the many ways the world celebrates Christmas in fun, but not-real ways, tonight we turned our attention to the question of how we can know that the Christmas story recorded in the Bible is actually true. With Jackson reading for us, we looked at Genesis 1:1, Psalm 19:7-9, and 2 Timothy 3:16-17. We talked about how God created the heavens and the earth, how God never makes mistakes, and how the Bible we read from came from God Himself. Hearing from Psalm 19 that the law of the Lord is perfect helped us to understand that everything contained within the Bible is perfect – that it is true and without mistakes. Hearing also from 2 Timothy 3 that the Word of God is profitable helped us to realize that everything within the pages of Scripture is profitable – that it is beneficial, that it is valuable, that it is “worth it.” So, to commemorate our lesson on the importance of the Bible in understanding not only the Christmas story, but all of God’s Word to us, we built Bibles with our LEGOS.
