New Costco Items for July
I mentioned a few sale items for June and July (Costco Deals for June/July) and here are some additional new ones for July.
11 New Costco Items for July
1. Root Beer Float ProteinDrink
One new item for July is the Premier Protein Shakes (30 grams of protein per shake) in a new flavor: Root Beer Float. The bottles are 11-ounces and come in packs of 18.
I have not had many protein drinks and have not liked the ones I have had. I find general nutrition drinks to be better, but they still often taste too sweet and/or have a “chalky” aftertaste. The times I have had nutrition drinks, I have stuck to vanilla or chocolate. I have seen strawberry but don’t like fake strawberry. I have also seen coffee but,as I have mentioned, I don’t like coffee. When I saw this new addition to the Costco inventory, I checked to see what other flavors Costco offers. The selection appears to differ by location but the flavors mentioned were chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and caramel. I think that a root beer float protein shake sounds terrible. I don’t like root beer in general so combining it with the idea of a protein shake (and therefore no carbonation) is an odd concept. I also found it funny to imagine the marketing team discussing potential new flavors. Instead of more common options (e.g., other fruits; cookies n’ cream) or just leaving the options as they are, they actually came up with root beer float.
2. Chocolate-Dipped Pretzels
The article mentions Hershey’s Cookies ‘N’ Creme Dipped Pretzels as another new item for July. These treats are pretzels dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with cookie bits and salt. They are sold in packs of 12 4.25-ounce bags.
Reading this description made me think of a brand of snacks that I ate occasionally as a child. The brand was Mr. Fliptz. Although most of the offerings were pretzel-based, my favorites were actually graham cookies covered in chocolate. Although I don’t love pretzels (although they are good with hummus), even when coated in chocolate, and don’t particularly like white chocolate, these sound like a good combination. They also seem like they would be very appealing to serve at a gathering if sold in larger bags.
3. CanningJars
A new nonedible offering for July is a set of four Le Parfait jars. The article reports that they have break-resistant glass, airtight rubber seals, stainless steel clamps, and extra-wide mouth openings.
I didn’t know anything about these jars so I looked them up. They are very pretty. I have seen kitchens at others’ houses and on TV in which people store pasta, flour, pretzels, etc. in these types of jars. They always make the food and kitchens look nice and organized. I don’t use jars to store food and instead kept the food it the original containers in drawers and think it would be more work than needed (or than I’m willing to give) to transfer them to the jars. But I do I love this type of jar and could see using them for non-food items, such as safety pins, spare change, etc.
4. Sturgeon
The author lists Candied Shoyu Sturgeon from Tsar Nicoulai Caviarb as another July item. Apparently, this fish has been marinated in tamari, brown sugar, ginger, garlic and onions. It is sold in packs of six, each piece weighing 6 ounces.
I didn’t know anything about sturgeon and learned that it is often used for caviar, which I have never had not do I have any interest in. However, clearly it is a popular “fancy” appetizer.
5. Dressshirt
Another new nonedible item being offered in July is Chaps Button-Down Dress Shirts. According to the description, the shirts have a standard fit and button-down collar. They come in various colors and are made of 50% viscose and 50% polyester.
Not being an expert on men’s (or women’s for that matter) dress shirts, I looked them up to see what they looked like. They seem to be very simple shirts that would be nice for many occasions. I saw that Costco carries them in blue, dark blue, white, and red. Clothing is always a good deal at Costco so I can see this product being very popular. In addition, these shirts becoming available in July is consistent with the seasonal pattern of Costco items (Navigating Seasonal Items at Costco).
6. Tamarind Gummies
A new candy offered in July is Nutty & Fruity Chili Tamarind Peach Ring Gummies. They are gluten-free and sold in a 40-ounce bag.
Although I stopped eating gummy candy years ago, I used to love peach ring gummies. I would probably still like them, although I imagine that I could only eat a few, whereas I used to eat bagfuls of gummy candy. I can’t even imagine what they would taste like with a savory flavor. This candy seems like a random item to sell but I trust that Costco has tested them out in a few locations before making them more widely available.
7. Deerburgers
The author reports that another new July item in Costco is deer burgers. These burgers are hormone- and antibiotic-free. When ordered online, they are shipped frozen.
Definitely not for me.
8. Groomingrazors
According to the article, these razors are sold in packs that contain one handle and nine cartridges.
I don’t know much about different razor brands but I imagine these are high quality.
9. Toothbrushes
Another new item for July is the Oral-B 3D White Toothbrushes. Sold in packs of eight, these manual toothbrushes are sold with either soft or medium bristles.
I love toothbrushes. Odd? Yes, probably. I like to have plenty of extra toothbrushes and have bought packs on sale at Costco many times. I am not sure if these new ones are actually different from the ones I have bought. I don’t particularly care about the exact brand or model of toothbrush as I just buy decent ones on sale. These new ones look solid and I’d definitely try them if not too expensive. I can add them to my collection!
10. PeanutButterCups
The author mentions that Costco will now be offering Skinny Dipped Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. These candies are individually wrapped, gluten-free, have only 2 grams of sugar per piece, and are sold in packs of 30.
Peanut butter cups are delicious. They were always one of my favorite candies and I really liked the addition of the dark chocolate variety to the Reese’s lineup. I then discovered Justin’s brand, which then became my go to for this candy. I have mentioned that I now find a lot of candy too sweet so I am very interested when I find candy with less sugar. Therefore, I am very tempted to try this new Costco product.
11. Electrolytedrinkmix
The final new July item on the list is naturally sweetened BodyArmour Flash I.V. Hydration Booster sticks. Each box contains 30 individual servings. Each serving contains 2,230 milligrams of electrolytes.
I have seen different varieties of electrolyte drinks at Costco, some already in drink form, some as powders. This item is in powder form and comes in two flavors: strawberry kiwi and tropical punch. It just lists “electrolytes” but I was unable to find the specific electrolytes included. The description also says that it contains zinc, Vitamins B and C, and no sugar. I’m very tempted to try electrolyte drinks, especially in hot weather. I am a little concerned about the flavors but I wonder if I could mix the powder into more water so it is a lighter flavor or even into seltzer. I would prefer lemon or lime or raspberry or other lighter flavors. However, I might try these drinks anyway to get the electrolytes and vitamins without the overall drink being too sweet.
Have you seen or tried any of these new items for July? Any others you’ve seen?
