Naked (2017)

Director: Michael Tiddes
Starring: Marlon Wayans, Regina Hall, Dennis Haysbert
Nervous about finally getting married, a guy is forced to relive the same nerve-wracking hours over and over again until he gets things right on his wedding day.
Rob Anderson (Marlon Wayans) is a part-time teacher. His fiance Megan (Regina Hall) is a doctor, and from a wealthy family. They are about to get married and her father makes it very clear he does not approve of his daughter marrying Rob.
The night before his wedding, Rob goes for “one drink” with a friend, and wakes up the next day stuck in an elevator – naked. The premise is rather silly: Rob relives the final hour leading up to his wedding over and over. There is no explanation as to why this is happening. Neither is there any explanation as to why he is naked. One can only assume he had a bit of a ‘wild’ night. If this was just an excuse to show us Marlon Wayans naked, then by all means, I’m not complaining. He does look mighty fine (naked)…
There’s no denying this is a silly little film with no believability whatsoever. The attempts at humour is so watered down, and there’s also the cliched gay jokes. Marlon Wayans is over-acting to the best of his ability – this I believe to be intentional in another attempt at humour.
If you’re not amused by a naked man running around, then ‘Naked’ is definitely not for you. Although the film was stupid and not really funny, I – surprisingly – did find it entertaining.
Would I watch it again? No, I don’t think so.
