Homepage:
As the first page which will be seen by viewers, I attempted to make the homepage of my artist’s websites attractive as to engage and interest my audience. To ensure an easy and familiar layout for the audience, I selected a pink theme that matches the branding of the singer’s most recent album cover, and combined it with a modern, uncluttered and simple layout which will ease the audience into feeling comfortable with the website’s navigation. An image consistent with the one featured on her latest album can be seen immediately on the homepage. At the top of the homepage, a navigation bar lists pages including: About Music, Events, Store and Contact. Clicking on these page names will take you directly to the desired page via the navigation bar.
About page:
The ‘About’ page contains the same main colour scheme and fonts as the homepage. The differences to the previous homepage include a new picture of the artist and some information which is animated so that it slides from one side of the screen to the other with the intent of intriguing the viewer. This page contains a brief artist bio consisting of some quotations about the artist relevant to her music career.
Music page:
The ‘Music’ page features some interactive elements. To ensure audience interest, I employed a number of multi-media tools on this page which the viewer can interact with such as a web audio player of the artist’s latest album and, underneath, a thumbnail of her latest music video for the viewer of the website to watch. The colour scheme and text is consistent on this page with the rest of the website.
Events page:
The ‘Events’ page is where the viewer can find the nationwide tour dates for the artist with a complete list of all her upcoming tour dates. This offers an easy way to access all of the tour information all in one place. The page list all of the venues in which the artist will be performing. Also on this page is a bright, appealing mid shot image of the artist.
Store page:
The store page contains various items of merchandise from the artist including a CD and Vinyl version of her latest album, and a poster depicting the artist. This page is structured like any online store: a product page listing all of the available items accompanied by a shopping cart icon for checkout. The prices of each item is listed underneath its image; clicking on each product provides a closer look via a magnifying feature.
Contact page:
On the ‘Contact’ page, a basic contact tab is provided as the main focus on this page. An accompanying image of the artist is present.
Creation on Wix:
In order to create my artist’s website I used the web development platform, Wix. I selected this site as it was recommended to me by my teacher for its ease and convenience, as well as its ability to make effective sites. After creating an account with Wix, I selected a template from their large collection, opting for one appropriately titled ‘Music Artist’. I chose this template as it adopts a visual layout, one which I am aiming to achieve. Equally, the template’s one column layout is consistent with many music artist websites and thus would be easy to navigate for my target audience who will have likely previously visited other music artist websites which adopt the same layout.

Consulting the web design template from my planning, I created each page of my website in their order on the navigation bar: Home, About, Music, Events, Store and Contact. I attempted to keep the website’s appearance consistent with the style and branding of my digipak (often done in the industry as a form of promotion for the artist’s latest album).

I created the each page by consulting a drop down menu, which corresponded to the web pages of my site.
I cropped the image featured on my ‘About’ page using the image editing tools in Wix. I opted for a circle shape as I wanted to add some variety (all my other images are rectangular).

Whilst editing in Wix, I added some animation to some items on each page (a transition effect occurring when the page is opened eg. a ‘fade in’). For the images and titles of each page I selected a ‘float in’ animation as I believed it made the page appear more engaging and fun.

To do this, I simply selected the image / title and clicked the animation button, going on to choose ‘float in’ from the menu.

On my ‘Music’ page, I created a music web player by using Wix Music. This enabled me to add tracks and create a digital album using the SoundCloud audio player.

Before creating my Store page in Wix editor, I made some ‘products’ to be sold. The first was a poster which I created using a poster design site ‘Canva’.
I created a poster which was consistent with the artist’s website and digipak in order to appeal it to the target audience, as well as maintain a sense of branding. I also re-used my digipak cover for my store, selling CD and Vinyl copies of the album.
Overall, creating the website’s creation on Wix was very efficient and I believe it turned out very successfully.
