My Inspiration for February 2025

As always, this month too I was stretched between feelings of hope, nostalgia and great sadness. As you may have noticed, I hadn’t written ‘my inspiration’ post for January because I was sick for a long time, but I am getting better and I am happy that spring is approaching. This month I was inspired by the books that I was reading, mainly Julie Smith’s ‘Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before’ and Joseph Campbell’s ‘Myths to Live By’, and I am also reading Turgenev’s ‘Spring Torrents’ which seemed fitting because March is starting tomorrow and with it the hope of spring. I really enjoyed the Telugu song ‘Inkem Inkem’ and Rashmika Mandanna’s beautiful pink sari in the temple scene. The magic of Umberto Brunelleschi’s illustrations has cast a spell on me too! And I also I discovered the YouTube channel SKJ Talks and I enjoyed watching many, many episodes of this Kerala-based show which deals with the social problems of India and the problems of the family dynamic in a critical and educational tone. Not to mention it is very funny too and the Malayalam is honey to my ears!

“Life throbs in my distant heart… I wasn’t meant for reality, but life came and found me.”

(Fernando Pessoa, The Book of Disquiet)

“But I love such days—rare lonely days. I love above all things, my dear, to be alone.”

(Katherine Mansfield, in a letter to J.M. Murry, from
