My Favorite albums of 2019
2019 has been one of the most interesting years when it comes to music. With so many new songs and albums coming up we all had a lot of songs to listen to throughout the year from most of our favorite artists. I tried to listen to a lot of music and here’s a list of my favorite albums this year.
• Gully Boy Soundtrack- gully boy was a revolutionary movie and the soundtrack to that album didn’t disapoint us one bit. The way the brought so many artist together and made Ranveer Singh rap is commendable. I thoroughly enjoyed the album and it also got me excited to see how the Indian Hip-Hop scene would change after such a wide spread recognition.

• World War Joy (The Chainsmokers)- I’ve been a fan of The Chainsmokers since the beginning and was a huge fan of their remixes and the early music as well. They’ve come into their element now with surprise collaboration like the song Who Do You Love and P.s I Hope You’re Happy which featured 5 seconds of summer and Blink-182 respectively. This was a highlight of their improvement as artist and a sign that they’ll keep on growing from here on.

• Nothing Happens (Wallows)- Wallows released thier first studio album this year and I was really impressed with the way their album flows, in the entire run time the it never felt like there wasn’t a song which felt out of place or felt like something which was just slapped on to complete the album. I really loved the songs Scrawny and Are You Bored Yet and I’m looking forward to some new music from them this year.

• When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Billie Eilish)- this album took the world by a storm with it’s refreshing take on the monotonous world of pop music. Billie Eilish made strong and bold strides by making a stellar album with it’s dark and gritty theme and an amazing production by her brother Finneas. I just loved Bad Guy and it’s definitely one of the songs that defined 2019.

• Diaspora (Goldlink)- in this album the DC rapper showcases exactly where his inspirations to make new music stems from. I’ve been following his beats radio 1 show called IFFY FM and this album follows the same musical trend. Collaborating with the top artists from the industry Goldlink’s first full length album is definitely one you should start your year with.

• Free Spirit (Khalid)- Khalid showed a lot of maturity as a song writer and singer in his second studio album released this year. After a series of hit collaboration Khalid finally dwelled into his own and made this gem of an album. If you want to take the full experience out of it I suggest you watch the movie which accompanies it and give this one a shot.

• ZUU (Denzel Curry)- the fact that Denzel dropped a new album just a year after dropping one of the best hip hop album ever made is commendable in itself. This was a fun where Denzel paid homage to his favorite artists and made music representing different eras of hip hop. My favorite song in this album was Wish and I believe that it has the best Denzel hook till date.

• New Age Norms 1 (Cold Wat Kids)- the opening song ‘Complainer’ sets the tone for this new era of music for Cold War Kids. Inspired by Kanye West’s G.O.O.D music company this album is the first installment in a three part series for the Cold War Kids. The indie-pop bands explores new sounds and subject matter in this compact 8 song project. Check this album out to listen to some of the most innovative ideas in the music industry right now.

• IGOR (Tyler, The Creator)- Tyler, the Creator explores a so many themes and styles in this album that it’s hard to keep track of at this moment. Tyler has been known for his experimentation and narrating a strong narrative using his lyrics and he does just that on this project and to top it all the project was entirely produced by Tyler as well. This is definitely one of the best albums of the year and it was a delight to listen to it.

• Hollywood’s Bleeding (Post Malone)- you can call me biased here but my favorite album of the year was by Post Malone. This album showed major improvement by post Malone and all the features blended together to form the best album of the year. Each track on this album was a hit on it’s own and I loved every minute of it. The stand out moment for was bringing together Ozzy Osbourne and Travis Scott on a song which turned out to be one of the best songs of the year. This album was a blend of all the genres that have influenced Post Malone and shaped the way his music sounds today.

This list is based on how much I enjoyed the songs on the album and on the basis of improvement that the artist has shown from his previous project. You should listen to them if you haven’t already.
