My Dissertation Proposal Presentation Grades Are In

So my dissertation proposal presentation grades are in:
73/100 (equates to 14.6/20 of overall mark)
I am really happy with this distinction grade. As with every presentation, I was really nervous but I find that going through the presentation over and over again really helps. You start to remember the script, you change the script if it doesn’t sound right or make sense, you know where the potential pitfalls lie, you can get the timing right and you get to look at yourself in the mirror to see your body language as you’re doing it. For me, this is another example of the power of practice!
I think the change that made the biggest difference was stating the rationale from the outset. I intended to build a picture up so the rationale would be obvious but I ditched it after some advice from the module leader. I also had some tough questions and I purposely ensured I understood the question before answering, unlike the computerised match analysis module. I thankfully did not get the question of, “What makes this an masters-level dissertation?”
When I finished, Peter O’Donoghue was smiling so I thought I might be OK. I guess I was right.
